Privacy Policy

Your data stays yours. Period.

Last updated: April 2026

TL;DR

  • DeskWell collects zero data from you
  • All webcam processing happens on your device
  • No images or video ever leave your machine
  • No analytics, telemetry, or tracking
  • No servers to hack because there are no servers
  • No account creation required

1. What We Collect

Nothing. DeskWell does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers. There is no user account system, no cloud sync, and no telemetry.

Your wellness scores, calibration data, and settings are stored locally on your machine in the app's data directory. You can delete this data at any time by removing the app.

2. Camera & Webcam Data

DeskWell accesses your webcam to perform posture and eye health analysis. This processing happens entirely on your device using MediaPipe, Google's on-device machine learning framework.

The technical architecture works like this:

  • Your webcam captures frames locally
  • MediaPipe processes each frame on-device (WASM/GPU)
  • Only numerical landmark coordinates are extracted
  • Raw images are immediately discarded from memory
  • Scores are computed from landmarks and stored locally

No images, video frames, or webcam data are ever transmitted over the network. DeskWell does not even have the capability to do so — there are no network endpoints in the application.

3. Keyboard & Mouse Data

For RSI prevention, DeskWell monitors keyboard and mouse activity patterns. It tracks only aggregate metrics: keystrokes per minute, mouse velocity, and click frequency. It does not log individual keystrokes, record what you type, or monitor which applications you use.

All input intensity data stays local to your machine.

4. Third-Party Services

DeskWell does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The only external communication is an optional update check to see if a new version is available, which sends only the current app version number.

5. Data Storage

All app data (wellness scores, calibration settings, preferences) is stored in a local SQLite database on your machine. This data is never synced to any cloud service. Uninstalling DeskWell removes all associated data.

6. Website Analytics

The DeskWell website (deskwell.life) may use privacy-friendly analytics (such as PostHog) to understand page visits. No personal data is collected, and no cookies are used for tracking. The website does not affect the desktop application in any way.
